Meet All Parrots

Shyama, a blue Hyacinth Macaw at Shuka

Shyama

Shyama our Hyacinth Macaw

Shyama came to us from a difficult background. At that time, she could not fly and her feathers were damaged. Even though she went through a lot, she has always been very open and loving. She is extremely social, enjoys being around people and gets along with all the other birds. With time, patience, and care, she slowly regained her strength and confidence.

Today, she is flying again and continues to grow more and more every day.

Hyacinth Macaw · 1200 - 1700 grams · 90 - 100 cm

Rani and Raja, blue-and-yellow macaws at Shuka

Rani and Raja

Arriving in 2020, Rani and Raja were one of Guruji’s first parrots. Rani is certainly our queen (left parrot) and Raja, a male macaw, is her partner (right parrot). They are both quite intelligent, adept at flight training and like to learn new tricks. Their vocal repertoire you ask? Chanting the Name of Radha and Vitthala are all time favorites. In addition to chanting, they are master foragers: nuts are hidden in different places and they search for them, the more challenging the better!

Blue and Yellow Macaw · 900 - 1,400 grams · 86 cm

Lumpidas, a colourful hybrid macaw at Shuka

Lumpidas

Lumpidas came to Shuka Paradise when he was already 4 years old. When he came into our care he was not good at flying or climbing, but after much exercise with flight training and creating different climbing opportunities he has regained his confidence. Now he moves around without our help and is quite proud of himself! Step by step he gets more active in the aviary and explores different places. He likes when he gets a lot of attention from people and of course when he gets nuts as a treat.

Hybrid Macaw · 1,000 - 1,700 grams · 90-95 cm

Maya, a dark red macaw at Shuka

Maya

Maya, a beautiful majestic bird, is the partner from Lumpidas. She came to Shuka in 2021. She is a shy parrot and tends to be submissive. With direct one on one attention, lots of love and encouragement, she enjoys participating in flight and trick training.
